Centennial Medical Physics was formed in 1995 to provide high quality medical physics services to hospitals and medical clinics primarily in the northern Colorado area. The name was chosen to honor the 100th anniversary of Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen’s discovery of the x-ray in 1895. The name also is the nickname of the state of Colorado, given because statehood was achieved in 1876. Although it was originally based in northern Colorado, Centennial has expanded to serve many Denver and Rocky Mountain region medical facilities. Currently, Centennial Medical Physics consists of three full-time medical physicists, all certified by the American Board of Radiology and approved as Registered Medical Physicists by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
